Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Mainly in the Puget Sound at locations such as Alki, Edmonds, Tacoma, etc.
The club also participates in the yearly NABS summits held in various
Caribbean islands each November.

Q:
Where do you have club meetings and when do they occur?
A:
We are currently meeting at the Douglas Truth Library in Seattle.
The Library is located on 23rd and Yesler in the Central District.
We start our meetings at 10am and have a club dive following the meeting.
Q:
What is there to see underwater?
A:
PLENTY! The Puget Sound is nutrient rich and is known as having some of
the best diving in the world.

Q:
How deep do you dive?
A:
Diving depths vary based upon the site and what you are trying to see. The
average depth is around 40-50 feet. Note that when you get an open water
certification that allows you to dive to 60 feet. Once you move up into
the advanced levels, you can go deeper but not more than 120 feet. To
be honest, much marine life can be seen in 30-40 feet of water.
Q:
How long can you stay underwater?
A:
The time varies based upon several factors. However, a dive can last on
average around 20-40 minutes.
Q:
How can I get started diving?
A:
Any member of S.T.A.R.S would be glad to recommend a few reputable dive
training locations and certification organizations to ensure a good
beginning in the sport of scuba diving.
